Julia Ada | About Me

I have had a special place in my heart for piano all my life. I started learning at an early age and progressed to vigorous training under professional instructor and pianist Paul Burd. Teaching and sharing the love of piano over the years has been a primary source of joy in my life.

I teach teens and adults, and I work extensively with young children starting at age 4. I also have experience teaching children with various special needs (such as autism, ADHD, anxiety, learning disabilities, and more). I aim to provide a calm approach that allows children to feel safe no matter what they bring to each lesson.

Each student is different. Depending on the needs of each child, I utilize multiple types of activities during lessons to keep them engaged and learning. Activities (to supplement time at the piano) include physical movement, rhythm exercises, games, note drills with tangible manipulatives, drawing and whiteboard work, and many others.

Working with older teens and adult students is also such a joyful experience. Whether they intend to pursue music degrees, perform gigs, or simply learn to play for holiday gatherings and personal enjoyment, it is an honor and joy for me to walk alongside them in their journey and witness their progress and development into creative and expressive musicians.

Additionally, I am a registered member of the American College of Musicians and National Guild of Piano Teachers, which allows my students access to registration for the National Piano Guild Auditions.

On a more personal note, I am a mom of three children. My daughter plays guitar and sings in our church's worship band, and my youngest son is all about sports and loves baseball. My oldest son is a rapidly-growing pianist, violinist, and violist who composes his own music and is on the autistic spectrum; as such, I have a special place in my heart for children with disabilities and for the families raising them.
